This may/may not answer your question
http://www.catlifttruck.com/dealers/europe/united-kingdom
I was working for Cat as a management trainee in the early 60s when they entered the lift truck market by purchasing the Towmotor Company. For a couple of years the rather vintage looking Towmotors were sold as Cats before Cat developed a new modern range. I believe (but don't quote me on it) that some of the Cat range of trucks was manufactured in Japan' possibly by Mitsubishi.

How come Finnings aren't the dealers anymore then?
No idea but perhaps Cat have just separated the distribution of the construction and materials handling divisions.

Re: Caterpillar Forklifts
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the distributor for Cat forklifts in UK is Impact Handling.

I Believe you are correct Daniel, the company I work for manufacture industrial vehicles and supply Impact Handling and Briggs Equipment aswell as other dealers. Briggs Equipment recently brought out Barloworld, another materials handling company which was linked to the Hyster Brand
