I've just picked up a Conrad Komatsu wheel loader and the rear view mirrors are blank and grey, does anyone have any good tips on what to paint or cover them with to make effective looking mirrors?

I would of thought that Aifix/Humbrol silver enamel paint would suffice any half decent model shop should have a tin.

I tried a silver paint on a previous model but it dried a bit dark and a bit marbled, even after a good stir and shake of the paint.

Two things you can do Martin... there is sheet that you can buy, but it is plastic card...

Or take mirrors off, apply a thin coating of super glue (Cyno) place tin foil over the surface and trim when dry.

I had thought of tin foil but didnt want to mess it up, how does it cut with a craft knife?

To be honest Martin i dont if a craft knife will be sharp enough, i always use a Swan Morton scalpels, however, once really dry you should not have a problem, but dont cut it, slice it, otherwise if its not sharp enough it will tear the tin foil...experiment on a small piece of plastic first then you will know what to expect.
