Placing decals

Post #1 by Renaultman » Sat May 14, 2011 9:23 pm

Hello, Like an expecting father I have my White decals on route. I need advice on the best way to apply the decals. I see a product called decal softener. Has anyone here used this product or have any other tips for me, thanks. Ohh yes, is it wise after the decals are on to give the model a coat of varnish to protect it. Cheers.

Hi Geraint I think that perhaps the best person to advise on this is Martyn Henley.

Hi Geraint, cant say i have used decal softener, i have allways just placed the decal in saucer of warm water, slide off and dry with tissue ...and yes it is a good idea to Lacquer it afterwards ...hope we will see some photos soon Geraint

Joe that can work but I find that you have to be very careful using tweezers as the decal can close up around the tweezers; I find that its a case of being very careful and gentle with decals, plus applying moisture where needed.

I used to use the decal backing strip to line up the decal,as tweesers can damage it as Jeremy says.
