my first proper attempt at using plastruct.....Zaxis 670LCH model.

Post #1 by Joes1989 » Sat Dec 04, 2010 9:08 pm

Just thought id share some pics of my custom Zaxis 670LCH that i have decided to redo.....I made a crappy version last year and really wasnt happy with it! I decided to have a go for the first time with plastruct! Im pretty pleased with the way its turn out if im honest! I also made the dipper and am pleased with that too! All i need now is a new udercarriage and metal tracks for it!

Thats looking really good Joe :claphands: :claphands:

Have tried to make a few bits in the past, but never been brave enough to modify one of my models. Feel like i lack the attention to detail! lol

But for your first time working with plastruct youve not done bad at all!!!

Not bad Joe  .... needs a bit of filling, take a trip down to your local model shop and get a tube of "squadron green putty filler" works wonders and only takes about 30mins to dry .. as for spraying ... no worries about cold, warm your aerosol in warm water, and get sprayed part near some warm air like a radiator or even a hair dryer as soon as you have sprayed part ..

This is what you need Joe ... sanding boards, black for coarse, Reddy pink one for medium and green for final smoothing ... and the tube of squadron putty ...

Nice conversion there, Martins tips are allways good , i tell you what Martin produces some great models and he also has perfectly manicured nails too! He won't tell you that he uses nail varnish as well though!! ;)
