Front half of a 990 loading shovel thats got a bit of a crack in it.......
The machine has been underground in the Salt mines near Winsford since 1994, this damage shows what happens when you don't bother repairing cracks!!!!!

Hello there John,
She's in for repair, i think (but may be wrong) that the 990 will be kept as a back up machine, the Salt Union have just taken a Komatsu WA800 as primary loader.

Yes I have experienced the "let it develope" attitude towards fixing trucks, it was my old foremans favourite saying.
Some while later he would say "you know that so and so you told me about well its just developed you'll have to go out to it"
