42H 466 was built Jan/Feb 1965 with a Ford 590E 6cyl diesel engine

You still come across 2H's working on farms and backup machines in old coal yards also a lot of other old machines still earning their keep. 42HD's are the main ones you see around.

Here is a fairly early 12H on ebay, by the number I would say from late 1958 or '59 on a Power Major.

A slight departure in design from most of the Weatherill models of the 60s and 70s. The L50 was quite compact and had the then unusual mono boom. Fit all wheel steering plus a short telescopic boom and you would almost have a modern handler! We have not seen John Tutt lately, I hope he is OK.

ps These were fitted with a 4 cyl Perkins normally but this one looks a bit odd?

Hi Pete I have been around but I'm in Western Oz (the home of some big machines) at the moment. Back to the L50. The company did try the machine with all wheel steering but as the machine was intended for the local authority market it never went past the prototype stage. Early L50's had Ford Engines when I get back I will be able to tell you its age.

L50-2-63 was built at the end of 1969 It had a Perkins4.236 engine British Twin Disc transmission and Centrax Axles.
The one in the picture has had its ballast weight moved further back to the rear of the frame to take a larger capacity bucket.
This was not a factory conversion as it would exceed the designed payload.

I thought it looked different but I also wondered if it had a larger 6 cyl engine fitted as it looks lon but a job to see with photo quality.
