Thank you very much John, great photos although I think I have seen the one with the model code in the bucket before. It may have been posted by one of your Dad's former colleagues John Tutt who looks in on this forum from time to time. The internet has made sure that marques like Weatherill have not been totally forgotten, especially by anoraks. :oops:

Did the high reach Weatherill loaders designed for coal work have any additional counter-weights on the rear? No matter how many pictures I see of these (which isn't really that many), I imagine they'd be pretty front heavy especially with a full bucket way out in front?

The High Tip machines had extra weights fitted between the frame and the ballast weight plus extra weight between the steer axle and ballast weight you can just see them on this pic.

Coal is relatively light per m3 so imagine the load was restricted to coal / coke and they might struggle with a bucket full of wet sand for instance.

Even managed to catch a glimpse of a Whitlock 105 in the background of the L61B picture, spectacular!
