Hi Ronnie how is it going? I always meant to drop in and see your machines being a bit of a Weatherill anorak.

I don't suppose they are the only ones left but they must be rare. Carter and Ward used to have a S series in their block making yard years ago. They were not in huge numbers even then. John Tutt could probably tell you how many were built.

Thanks for getting back to me.

The S2 that Carter and Ward had, my Dad purchased from Roy Carter back in 1984, Roy Carter is only down the road from me.

The amount of S2's I've got are 4, and one i've unfortunately had to cannabalise for parts....

Are there any S1's around, I am looking for one to restore or any S2 parts available at all to save the one I've taken its soul from?

Regarding the Weatherill 8H Pete, I think I have a loading machine even rarer than that! A chaseside which is cable operated instead of RAMs based on a Fordson Major petrol, straight 4 cylinder engine not the EN27N, it is around about a 1951 model.

Thanks Ron , I guess you are not far from Norman Gotts? I would like to see the Chaseside. Oddly there are a few rope shovel in preservation but I have never seen another 8H, although I have seen 2 on the net in Sweden. I wonder if the Chaseside 700 I have got with a Chelmsford/Essex no was ever owned by Carter and Ward (Bradwell Aggregates).

Hi Peter,
Yeah no problem come and see the chaseside anytime, yes im near Norman Gotts, Look out for Morris Marina's and Ford Escort Van's on the drive. The chaseside I've got was once owned by F.J Britain and it worked in shell haven all its life, until my dad acquired it when he was about 14. Its well tucked inside some bushes all you can see though is the bucket of it sticking out at the moment. Let me know when you want to call in and come and see my collection of weatherills.
