Westlode was the name that Levertons used for some of their own manufactured products - their spalding Depot was in Westlode Street. In the early 60's when I worked for Cat, as well as making and marketing cabs, Levertons used to assemble their own gensets using Cat engines and bought in alternators and sell them under the Westlode name. Not sure why this was so when Cat made a full range of gensets themselves. May have been due to availability or tariff barriers with the US made product. Also, the North Sea gas fields were just being opened up and this could have caused a shortage of gensets for use on rigs etc.
