Iron stone works

Hi chaps,

I found these on the web and had to share them, I wasn't sure which section to post them in , but due to the train and in the memory of the driver, Mr Prodger, I thought I would post them here.

It brings back many memories as these stills were taken in 1969 in an Iron ore quarry at the back of the village where i grew up in Northamptonshire.

I new many of the men who worked in these quarries, and I went onto work with some of them myself when i got older.

The ore was quarried for the steelworks at Corby,(Stewart and Lloyds which then in 1967 became part of the British Steel Corporation) where i also worked for a short while when i was only 16years old.

Once the iron ore was exhausted the quarries were then sold on to other companies who then carried on extracting the limestone.

I am still good friends with the son of Mr Prodger, the driver of "Jacks Green", the loco in some of the photos. Mr Prodger moved to the area from Wales to work in the local quarries which were then abundant.
