Found this on youtube.Remember this from 1984. What a waste of a good loco. They weighed 138 ton and powered by a Twin bank 12 cylinder Sulzer 12lLDA 28 engine.See greenpeace suggested it was rigged :dizzy: The carriages are designed not to ride over each other because they are fitted with buck eye couplings. The engine /generator in these locos weigh 30 ton. Each carriage weighs 33 ton.

I remember this video. I love watching DRSs class 37s double heading along with a flask, with a bit of thrash going on!! Martyn, how many 37s do DBS have?

They had a handfull but sad to say they have put them up for sale :(
When I worked at Canton in BR days,we had 85 x 37's based there and 63 class 47's.I have been asked to have a look at a locally preserved one that has a power fault.Looking forward to that. The class 45 /46,like the one in the video, were a very heavy loco with a 1 co co 1 wheel arrangement. The first wheelset was a load bearing poney truck. For a heavy loco they had a good turn of speed,95mph max.I worked on the class 46 version fitted with Brush equipment. The 45 were Crompton Parkinson electrics but both had SULZER engines, they were used on Cardiff Newcastle trains.

The only people who could conceivably have done that are people who wanted to leave our employment rapidly

Shame about the DB 37s, They look quite well in Red and Yellow! Better than the old EWS Maroon
