Largest Hydraulic ever, and its a hybrid, looks like a base unit of a 495 with hydraulic front end, some 200 ton heavier than the current RH400......

Re: New Cat LARGE shovel
This thing is a beast, I have seen it in person at the factory. It's not based off a 495 platform, but does use a 495 cab....sorry, I'm living in the past....7495. It weighs in at 1400 tons, a little more than 300 tons heavier than the RH400/6090. It swings a bucket of anywhere from 60 to 85 cubic yards, measuring out to 120 tons per pass. This puts it squarely in the realm of rope shovels.
The first machine to dig, will be coming to my neck of the woods this spring. It's actually the second machine they will have built, but the first to do any digging. It should be ready to go in April, and the undercarriage has already been built on site. Now, they're simply waiting for enough space to open up and the factory.....in between the 11 6090s they are building for Indonesia right now......so that they can build the upper structure.
I thought I could get pictures of it from public land, but no luck.

Found this and thought you might want to have a look at the 6120

Re: New Cat LARGE shovel
Nice looking machine but The oil patch boys can have it. CAT have never made a decent mining digger and by the sounds of it, Neither did BE. Sticking a Tri-Power front end on it, ain't a bullet proof vest.
Think they will stick to 4100 XPC's here. Heard about the 4800 going into the river? 100cuyd apparently.
This CAT digger will have to be something special to even go near 4100 productivity.

Re: New Cat LARGE shovel
Not sure why it hasn't been reported on Martin, but the first unit is on site being assembled, the second is in transit, and the next four were in production when I was at the factory a few months ago. I have some pictures of the first one in transit, just before it got to the mine site, but I cannot share them. With any luck, some operating pics will come to light in the next little while.
