Re: NSM o&k rh300
Hi Andy, welcome to CMN. I might be wrong but I'm sure that the NSM RH300 was exported and then cut up many years ago. It was ahead of its time and was lacking in suitable haul trucks at the time.

Re: NSM o&k rh300
Hi Andy welcome to CMN. If memory serves me correctly? there were three RH300 machines built the first was the NSM machine, the second was an electric powered version that went to work in a copper mine in Chile and the third was never built but used for spare parts to support the first two machines.
As Argie says these machines were ahead of their time and really speaking were a test bed for the machines we see today, I seam to recall reading somewhere that the NSM machine was eventually cut for scrap but whether that was in this country or not I do not know.
Jeremy

Hi Andy,
There's a lot of info in the link to the thread I started on the RH300. It has a special significance for me as I live 5 minutes away from what was the Godkin site of NSM and can remember the RH300 being delivered on low loaders along with the Wabco Haulpack 170's when I was a young lad!.
Has anyone got any pictures of Godkin Opencast

Hi Jeremy, just thought I'd mention, that's really close, but just a bit off. The first machine was definitely the NSM machine, the second machine was the machine that was never sold. It was assembled and tested at the factory, as well as displayed at Bauma, but was eventually used for spare parts. The third machine was the electric machine in Chile.

Re: NSM o&k rh300
The NSM machine was downrated to a 29yd bucket for matching to 170ton Wabco dumptrucks (model number?). The electric machine had a 34yd bucket on it. Looking at this alone, it does not seem surprising that no more 300's were built. The newest RH200's can go up to 34yd anyway. Anything bigger and you are looking at RH340/RH400 category.
The first of the 200's that was delivered to Stobswood (first 200 shovel in the UK?) was fitted with a 29yd bucket. I do not know if it was later refitted with a larger bullclam or not.
A real shame the RH300 wasn't saved, even as a non-running static monument.
Best regards
Gavin

Hi Gavin,
IIRC the RH300 was matched to 3 No Wabco Haulpac 170c trucks when it was working at Godkin OCCS. That site had some huge plant to a young lad (I was around 11 at the time!) The RH300, and 2 Rapier W700 walking draglines - see link below.

Thanks for the link to your images
I know what you mean by it seemed huge plant to a young lad. I was around 10 or 11 when I saw a Liebherr 992 front shovel up close for the first time. Well alright, maybe 30 feet away but it was a giant to me at the time. At what, 200tons, not a giant compared to the super-sized shovels kicking around these days but back then it might have well been Godzilla as far as I was concerned!
Best regards
Gavin
