Re: Older local dragline photos.
hello ian & fred .
forgive me for jumping in like this, the dragline that is loading the Euc R24 is A 150 RB, The hoist speed on that particular 150 RB meant that the hoist rope had two falls in it to reduce the hoist speed .The other dragline in the photo is i believe a Lima 2400.Probably/ definately powered by a cat.

Hi Graham and Ian,
Thanks for that info Graham. I knew there was an RB and Lima there but I wasn't sure what models. I was going to ask my mate Mike who was a fitter up there but you've answered the question.

Hi Chris,
The Royal Arms Site was right next to Trecatty. It was before Taylors started Trecatty.
I just found this arial photo. on the net. It shows The Royal Arms Site, you can see the Asda roundabout at the top of the photo.
The caption says that it was the deepest hole in Europe at the time.
Sorry no photos of Trecatty.
Fred

Superb pictures. You must have some collection. Royal Oak was named after the pub in the village that stood at the site.

Hello Graham and Gerraint,
You are pretty close Graham, the photo is from 1976/7.
Off toppic now, but I remember the village. It was called Pantywaun and I found an old photo of it from 19??, the Royal Arms Pub can be seen near the centre left of the pic.
