Why are people still using t-online, AOL or CompuServe?

This is my father-in-law ... when on the phone leading him to do something on the PC, I would say "open up IE", and I would always hear, 'Welcome', in the background.
"No, not AOL, IE!"
"Yes, but I have to get on the internet first."
Do you remember to zillions of CDs they threw out????!?!
