Fiat FL4 weight

Post #1 by jimfoster4 » Sun Nov 03, 2013 10:14 pm

Hi, Can any of the resident experts give me an idea of the weight of a Fiat FL4, with or without its counterweight/ripper. Its just I may be wanting to transport one on a 7.5 ton bevertail.

Thanks in advance

Jim

I think it would be over the limit on a 7.5 tonne beavertail. Jim. I would think the machine is around 5 tonne plus.Cant say for sure. though. A D2 size machine would be near limit on a 7.5 so a tracked loader would be over that I would imagine.

Just a though, machine letters and numbers denote weight, FL 4 maybe four tonne machine ? still too heavy for a 7.5

yep, I'd thought about 4 tons too, I know someone with a beavertail who thinks it only weighs 3.3 tons which would probably be just on the limit with an FL4 on the back. His 3.3 ton is only a guess though and I'm not so sure. My Dad thought the 4 in FL4 stood for the number of cylinders becaue he thinks the FL6 had a 6 cylinder lump. Thanks Martyn for your help.

There are FL 20's don't think its a 20 cylinder machine :) , think it maybe weight related. Have you got to move it far ?

That would be good  Interesting to see other makes of machine in preservation. I was thinking of getting a Case 350 for a future project or even a Fiat
