As the BTD6 is nearly complete,my thoughts turn to the IH TD6,hopefully this will be a lot easier than tracked loaders. But,having said that,I was thinking of getting a tracked loader that you don't see that often.A Case Drott,I worked on one many years ago in Devon.I think it was a 450.Has anyone on here had any dealings with a Case 450 tracked loader ?

Re: Future projects
I had a couple of weeks on a 450 back in the eighties, but to be honest the machine had a backhoe on it, and the two weeks were spent mainly digging.... only slight thing that took a little bit of getting used to was the drive and tracking levers, but you soon got used to it.

Re: Future projects
Try to find one with a good tranny, those Terramatics can be b####y expensive. I've never seen one without slop in the arms and linkage, but don't let that put you off. The engine is less of an issue than the gearbox, old school technology, easy to fix.

Martyn,
Have you never considered restoring a JCB 3C or something similar? I can imagine the standard to which you'd get it to.
Ashley.

Re: Future projects
I have thought about a JCB 3 or 3C,these would be easy to get to local vintage shows and I have worked on these machines in the past.If I had the cash and facilities I have a number of machines that I would like to collect, these include a 22RB and a Hymac 580. You don't see many restored Komatsu loaders along with Case loaders so will be looking into these machines in the future. My TD6 is the next machine to sort out, about 50% has already been completed. You never know what turns up That little Case tracked loader that I worked on,must have been 1981 , did impress me as it was a good machine.

Re: Future projects
They were undoubtedly fast, Martyn, but the speed went with a rep for eating tracks. I only ever saw and operated them on agricultural work, never saw one on a construction site. Also only ever saw 450's, apart from one big one, I believe a 1000 with 4 in 1 fitted, parked in a contractor's yard.
