Had another email from John Drott jr today. Will be putting together a write up on the Drott family in the future that will be in C P & M.He sounds like a great guy and is very happy that there is still so much interest in his Family. The pictures I emailed him were copied and framed and presented to his mother and grandchildren when they visited for Easter.

I have had had some pictures sent to me from John Drott.
This picture shows Vern Larner, the Drott company chief machine demonstrator at the controls of a BTD6. I guess this picture dates about late 1950's.I have asked John where this photo was taken, the picture is from Verns collection,He is still alive and well into his 80's. John told me he is thrilled to bits that there is so much interest in the machines he helped test and develop.

Martyn,

Do you have a copy of the Saville company history?

The workshop pic you posted (Drott4.jpg) is in it, as are (sadly) almost all the pics and info used in the Lumley-Saville articles that appeared in Classic Plant mag a while back.

Copies of it come up on Ebay now and then.

I responding to a string of notes from March and April 2008 regarding John W. Drott Sr. and contact made with John, Jr. that I happen to trip over. There is mention of the original equipment operator for Drott Manufacturing in Tomahawk, Wisconsin - Vern Lamer. That is my father. He has been retired for nearly 17 years but still takes advantage of an offer to run any type of escavating equipment. There is no one better! Our family has many menories of the old and new facilities tucked away in the woods East of Tomahawk that many locals do not even know exists. My parents have remained close friends with the Drott's thru the years.
