BTD6 Drott

Post #1 by martyn williams » Mon Aug 23, 2010 9:08 pm

After some thought,it looks like another Drott will be joining the fleet.
Its a nice 1957 machine that has been well cared for by a good mate of mine. With some tlc and a bit of time this machine will look good.
Been busy on the Cat D2 giving it a service and a repaint. It was last done 16 years ago.The TD6 is next on the list, the starter motor should be here by Friday.I shall be keeping the TD6 in its working clothes till its given a good workout at the end of Summer.

Thanks Holger
Its a tidy machine for its over 50 years old,we adjusted the engine clutch on it a while back on a visit to Devon.A lot of work has already been done to it,new starter, battery, heater plugs cylinder head overhaul and a filter change.Just got to get it home now.
Its been great to get back to work after my illness, been a good two weeks with everything going well, touch wood.
Just got to pace things now after that scare.
Waiting a phone call as my TD6 starter motor is on the way.
The D2 is nearly done after its service and repaint.
Just need the weather to warm up a bit after heavy rain for three days.

Hi Martyn
could well be persauded to attend the link club AGM to see what occurs.Im a truck man really but have worked for plant cos in
the past and had to buy something to warrant keeping my six leg ERF beavertail.static shows dont ring my bell as i think machinery was made to be used.My Taurus has cost a few bob since i bought it in 2010 but it now steers both ways and has engine oil pressure.Ilike it as it is so maybe it will never get a coat of paint as long as i own it. keep in touch if you feel inclined becouse i think you have me on a slippery path.

Carmarthen show is good for the truck enthusiast. I would love to own a Dodge tipper for two reasons. When I was very young my uncle drove for Hills transport and he used to take it home.Use to go out with him on school holidays.
It was white and blue, also would love to paint one up in the same livery of "Hawletts" the trucks used in the movie Hell drivers.
