Interesting machine, that design must have benefits though, the Case Quadtrac tractor uses it. Anybody remember the Top Gear guys making an attempt at growing their own Fuel? Richard Hammond had one, the other two sent him to get lunch from the shop in it and he caused chaos!!!

Here's two local Quadies - one UK purchased and the other a private import second hand from the US with only a couple of hundred hours on the clock. Apparently the capital allowances to farmers in the US are such that they will buy a big tractor for the autumn or spring cultivations and then sell it on!

Inlteresting photo Modelman saw one of those Quadtrac Case STX last week at a working day.

Till you stand next to them or it flys past you dont get a feel for the sheer size. One I saw was a STX 500, which looks to have a over strong rear Linkage and then the side frames look weedy at 12 mm plate but up to about a meter deep ! ! and a Air cleaner the size of a 25 ltr Oil can.

There was a Ford FW30 working as well and a big OLD US Case "Field King" ?

Also afew DOE and custom built articlated machines such as the Martrac DD120 and a 3 tractor Doe derivative.

Need to get photos off the camera via my other PC (short of disk space on this one).

The earlier Cat machine from the 60s shows that most ideas are not new it just has to be the right time for them to work. Barford had a 10 ton Dumper on tracks like that at SED last (08) year. And there used to be the Landrover conversions by ? Cuthbertson or some similar firm.

Dont think they do that here with the Capital allowances now as all the machines are imported these days, should have don it years back to keep people buying machines. Should have done the reverse on some good and put the Vat up on imported luxury items.
