Posted elsewhere but i thought here would be good.
edited to add... Not a rachet strap in sight! I think they were chained with dogs through the tow hitches front and rear, the rest was roped. A regular load for this truck.

Don't know if you guys would be interested, but I'm a bit of a folk singer. I wrote this song years ago. I've just found this on YouTube, uploaded by my brother 15 months ago. The wagons were all ones I drove. It's had a few hits it seems:

Thanks. The instrument is an autoharp. There is another track here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAdClw0qjys
All the accompanying shots were taken during the restoration of the Basingstoke canal by volunteers back in the 70s. The machinery was 'borrowed' (including DAF 2800 low loader) from sites where A L Peters & Sons plant was on hire, during one sunny Easter weekend. We put it all back and no-one was the wiser!
The 'navvy' with the split jeans was me!
cheers

Re: Classic Trucks with Plant
I had no idea this unedited footage existed until I stumbled over it this morning. It was uploaded to YouTube in Aug 2013.
It shows the loading of steam dredger, Perseverance, from the Basingstoke canal, en route to the canal museum at Ellesmere Port, in Oct 1993.
There is some nice tandem lifting by two mobile cranes and divers positioned the slings.
A good example of rear steer trombone trailer work, hauled by DAF 3300s.
My thanks go to canal enthusiast Nigel Durley, who filmed and uploaded it.
The irony of the last shot, wishing Perseverance good luck at the museum, is that it was just left to rust away due to lack of funds, after all that effort!
