I'm trying to imagine what the drive axle loading would be!

Found this on the Scammell:

Pathe News with the rig hauling the Cunard Berengaria's rudder after repair. The Berengaria was one of the World's largest ships in her day starting off life as a German Liner and transferred to Cunard under war reparations.

Brilliant photos , love old working pics like these, with a bonus of a Hymac 370 and a Triumph TR6P police bike .
A friend ran as second man on wide loads into London in 70s and was quite surprised when picking up their Met Police motorcycle escort that the two riders were given brown envelopes at start of journey , wonder if this guy felt he had lost out !

That was the whole point. We were running dodgy. Nearly always did in London.

He said, "You might have got away with it, but then you met me!"

Arrogant sod. But then he was doing his job. Ironically we caused much more congestion stopped on the side of the road while he sorted us out, than we would have done if we'd kept going!

While we were there another one of ours, a bull-nosed Scammel, came the other way with an RB stick over the front, and knocked down a lamp-post in the one-way system.

That distracted him, and we took off!

The firm was fined in the end, but I think Mac did a runner before they paid up.

Love the way the Chaseside 500 driver leans out of the cab for a better view. I remember doing that on our old one when I was about 12. Shame I do not have a picture of it anywhere. The G cab look huge on the Terrier.
