This i did quite a number of years ago - went off the M4 and ended up down by a water ski lake. Was easier to recover from there than winch it back up the embankment.

I used to like those old DAFs, I drove a 2800 for a while & ran an 85CF long wheelbased 8 wheeler for 5 years. Lovely lorry to drive.
With haul roads round old gravel working now used as ski lakes, did you leave the M4 around Theale?
