Post #1 by JimInOz » Thu Dec 30, 2010 12:42 am

Just wondered if anyone has had dealings with Hitchens Plant Dismantlers in Huddersfield.?I think they call themselves "Rustyparts".
I may be about to buy some parts there,so would appreciate some feedback.
Best wishes to all in 2011.

I haven,t dealt with them Jim, but I think they are the C.Hitchens that I am thinking about and they have been arround along time so are probably ok to deal with. What parts are you looking for?.James Gaughan + Son at Rochdale(not far from Hitchens) have loads of Cat parts and rebuilt units that they ship all over the world.Speak to Sue on 0044 1706 640637

Thanks Nicky,
I am repairing a final drive from a Komatsu D31S-16....need Bullgear,Pinion & Outer housing.
I've since emailed with Chris & he seems OK.....just wanting to ensure I get my parts OK,as I've had some rip-offs trying to get at me.
I'm also trying to get a handle on Huddersfield,so I can organise shipment.
Any info about the region is appreciated.

Thanks
Jim

I am afraid I don't know any Komatsu parts dealers mate.
Huddersfield isn't too far from the shipping prt of Hull.

Just wanted to give a "Thumbs Up" to Chris & Tina at Hitchens Plant. They went out of their way to send me the best available used parts ,& packed them very well too.
Great service half a world away.

Hi Jim ,
Many thanks for the happy post and confirmation of being ok to deal with , .
We also have been trading over 35years nick , and indeed also know jim and sue well at gaughns .
we try very hard to keep all customers happy ...with only 7 true machinery breakers in the uk we do know what we are doing ..... our men actually break the machines not sit behind a desk waiting for an enquiry then ring round every breaker going, trying to find the part . the main reason why our mechanics actually do know how and what is broken and how to break ,repair and refit .

I have since bought a few parts off Chris since my last post and found him Straight to deal with.
I like his style.
I bought a Ford 555 tombstone,a JCB 3C Hyd pump and a Cat D8K engine that Tony Coates rebuilt for me.
Very happy.
