oil on cab floor of Jcb 814s

Post #1 by Farmer » Mon Aug 17, 2009 1:21 pm

I have oil coming out of the foot pedals on my 1990 814s JCB. Does anyone know if there are just o rings to replace or what needs to be done. I have tried to get a manual for this , but with no luck so far.

Nick 19 yrs is a long time to be a foot pedal on the floor of an excavator, originally the valves will have been protected by rubber dust bellows these split and deteriorate over the years allowing ingress of abrasives that affect the O ring seals. You will have to remove those valves and if the valves are not too badly scored you will get away with renewing the seals. However if the spools are badly scored and excessively worn the only permanent solution is new valves. Depends how often you use the machine, new seals will last for a while even if the spools are a bit suspect certainly worth a try
