Help With some classic parts?

Post #1 by 3CMK1 » Sun Feb 01, 2009 4:49 pm

Hey guys
A friend of mine has a 1968 3CMK2. He's looking at putting new pins and bushes in the dipper to bucket linkage and the ram to bucket linkage, only problem is that the cost of parts has come in at £250 even with my dealer discount. Seeing as though my friend only paid £1000 for the machine i can't see its worth spending a quarter of that on 2 pins and four bushes, I was thinking it may be cheaper to replace the dipper with a less worn unit just to get by? Any advice would be great!

Hello 3CMK1

JCB parts are shockingly expensive. I heard that JCB are increasing some of there parts prices by 50% on the 2nd of Feb.

Your friend might want to try the following JCB specialist.

www.vicaryplant.co.uk
Simon Vicary
Vicary Plant Spares
01858 880219

(I've used Vicary for my JCB 3c MK3 - he's straight and reliable Prices aren't bad either.

Good Luck

Philip

Vicary buys machines for breaking, so could well be worth enquiring. I'll second Philip on that, the co owner of the machine I drive is involved with Vicary Plant, you could not wish to meet a more sound guy. Never scared to get his hands dirty, he was working on my machine today.

Think older 3C's must be renowned for rattly back buckets! The 3CIII I once drove used to wobble somewhat on the backacter!
