Aveling Barford Nameplate

Hello all.

Not sure if I'm posting in the correct spot, apologies if I'm out of order

A friend of mine recently dug up an oval plate and I'm baffled as to what it could have been on. It's marked "Aveling Barford Grantham England" Serial No. S.55419. Date: 25-2-46. Working Pressure 5psi. Test Pressure 10psi. The working pressure being quite low I can't see it being a machine with a lot of grunt. He almost hit me when I suggested it was probably a large kettle for site brewups.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, either knowledge or a hint as to where I cold go to look up the serial number.
