jcb 3c mk2 slewing slack
my jcb 3c mk2 has a lot of slack in the backhoe and i was wondering whether i should take the 4 big bolts out and slide the backhacker down because the spline gets worn and creates slack. if i did strip it down what should is do to it. also were could i get slew seals for it

Hi James, have you checked the condition/level of the oil in the slew rack gear box, its often forgotten on services and tend to get water contamination, a good flush out and refill works wonders Mark

The seal kit you need is 991/00011. I think you need two kits.
You could try FPE Ltd (Fluid Power Equipment) on 01325 282732.

Hello! Does anyone know where I could find an original Yellow Badge with Black JCB initials for the White Steering Wheel of a JCB 3C MK2? Condition is not important as long as its a yellow badge with black initials.
Many thanks
John

While you're looking, if you come across one with a red badge (3D) I'll have it please! Will post you the JCB part number when I get home. Mark

Re: jcb 3c mk2 slewing slack
Is your slack in the rack or is there air in the slew circuit hydraulics there is a bleed screw the valve block to bleed the air out of the circuit there is a cap head screw in valve block above the lower ARV if you slack it off and hold the slew one way it bleeds the air out if the slack is in the rack this won't help but worth trying first before any big strip down.

Re: jcb 3c mk2 slewing slack
the problem was the spline that goes from the slew rack into the backactor was razor sharp so put some chemical met on the spline and its like a new machine. thanks for all the posts on what to do
Re: jcb 3c mk2 slewing slack
Hi,
I changed my hydraulic filter because of a hesitant backhoe which wouldn't dip or return very well and is very slow on the slew. This hasn't improved it, and am concerned that it might be a case of air in the system.
Would my old 2B II have faciliity to bleed out the hydraulic system or could it be something else?
