Problem with front loader hydraulic rams

Post #1 by richardq » Wed Jul 20, 2011 5:30 pm

Hi guys,
Finally had a proper go of the new toy yesterday and generally pleased with it.

However, I noticed when raising the front loader that there is a small delay from pushing the lever and the loader lifting. Also, when I let the lever go the loader falls back down about 6 inches and stops. Any thoughts on whether this is air in the hoses fault, faulty rams, or faulty levers?

Also, the brakes are pretty awful. Any tips?

Thanks Richard

Brakes on the older JCB's were always poor, but can be fixed easily. On the hydraulics, I would check your oil level first plus condition of the oil,is it white (emulsified ) ?,does the pump groan or squeal when lifting or jerky when pulling the lever back.Dropping arms could be worn ram seals or valveblock wear. Renewing the hydraulic filter would not do any harm.
Looks a tidy machine
