Re: First JCB - JCB 2D mark 11
Probably wishful thinking but does anyone know if the joysticks can be converted from the JCB X factor pattern to the (SAE?) excavator style pattern?
There looks to be extra holes and I am not sure if the mountings are just made that way and reversed for each side or there is some magical way to twist them 45 degrees or so (am I being that silly?)
I am used to an excavator and struggling with the jcb, proably should just stop moaning and get used to it.....
thanks
Alan

Great pictures Alan ..love the dog
I am no expert with spanners but i am pretty sure you cant convert the levers rounds ... keep plugging away at it and it will soon come to you ..however if anyone else knows different ....
And yes your backhoe can detach itself ...of that i am pretty sure of, and looking at your dashboard and the padding in the cab, i would say its newer than 1978, and i see also you have a torque converter drive system...

Alan, i'd definately advise you just to stick with the controls as they are, always helps to add another string to your bow. Just choose a patch of ground to have a practise on, within a couple of hours you should have it mastered!

I think Martyn is right about the age. By that time you could not put on a reg mark that indicated a l;ater age than th machine. A Q plate would have been used if age unknown. There is also a fair amount of cladding/matting.
You will get used to the controls. I grew up on a 4 lever MF and the first time I used the JCB I really struggled. It was the same again with my first mini digger drive. (not much better now). The JCB set up is actually quite nice to use once you get it bedded in as it were.

Many thanks for the comments and advice.
I will actually take the advice this time and stick with it........
I am going to look at the all singing, all dancing, up, down, backwards, forwards chair in my office tomorrow as I am sure it will fit the JCB mechanism with a little adaption.........
thanks again
