tinkering over Christmas

Post #1 by jcb4cx » Sat Jan 01, 2011 12:03 am

did a bit of maintenance over Christmas ,new cutting edge's welded on to teeth ,new (second hand) front tyres, new bushes in quickhitch and dipper ,tipping link as the old driver was allergic to grease
a little soldering to a wire on the forwards reverse stalk ,as it lost 3rd and 4th just before christmas ,it had become trapped in the cowl and worn through
fronts had lasted 3000hrs
and a wash to finish it off

just need to sort the breaker out now ,works very well but is badly worn
cheers graham[attachment

Well if the gritting slows down he can use the backscratcher to clear the ice of the pavements with those nice refurb'd buckets seeing as he cant get the grit to reach over the kerb!

You'd have thought he'd give the front bucket a coat of paint as well :D

nick the buckets needed doing desperately ,as the edge on them was way to small they were all rounded off ,except the 3ft ,which was too narrow and left a big gap between the plate and the buckets edge which made scraping up shingle a long process
i put new side cutters on ,but did not have any for the 9"
bigkit you will be surprised how far i can get the salt ,especially when the little buggers throw sodding great snow balls at me
but we get told off for salting footpaths

yes Steve went and borrowed it today ,put my name on that cattle truck too ;) if it comes up
its been nice to have a break from gritting
cheers graham
