JCB wins action against Asian replica Backhoe Loader manufacturers...

Post #1 by usedjcbdave » Mon Oct 18, 2010 6:25 pm

JCB has received a big payment from an Asian manufacturer of backhoe loaders following claims of product copying of JCB’s iconic 3CX backhoe loader.

The foreign manufacturer has also agreed to fundamentally redesign its backhoe loader.

This follows on from court actions that JCB also undertook against three Asian manufacturers at the Bauma show in Munich in April of this year in relation to product copying of both JCB’s backhoe loader and telehandler machines.

Tim Burnhope, JCB’s group managing director for product development and commercial operations, said: “This is the fourth incident this year of an Asian manufacturer copying one of our machines and taking unfair advantage of 57 years of product development.

“JCB is determined to act promptly and decisively in relation to such activities and stamp them out.”

Good for JCB thats what I say :claphands: well done.

They need to stand their ground in these uncertain times and I'm pleased to hear of this positive outcome.

Enough is enough of Eastern manufacturers jumping on the bandwagon and claiming "a new backhoe loader" when Joe Bamford pioneered those ideas of his in the early 1950s. The heftier fine the better in my opinion !

There's a big difference between inspiration and blatent copying, furthermore JCB are a very successful multinational company who make a quality product and the fact that they sell proves this point.

Yes indeed he did, he was in Norway and saw a Broyt trailed excavator, and this was his inspiration ..
The JCB 7 was a American machine as well, Warner and Swasey Hopto made under licence by JCB untill they improved it somewhat

We have had some great machines in the UK over many years but our major fault is not putting enough money back into research and development hence the overseas manufacturers have overtaken us.This country has produced its fair share of great inventions for only a small island. We have just become country of service industries now which is very sad.I have travelled in the last few weeks to a few places in the Midlands and Yorkshire.Where has all our indusrty gone :dizzy: There is just retail parks everywhere.
