JCB 3C mk1

Hi,

I am restoring a JCB 3c mk1 from 1967. One of the simple topics is to replace the oil in the gearbox and transmission (same).
As I get different information about what oil that should be used, do anyone here have experience?
It is a 3 grear model, no converter.
The operator manual for MK2 models state EP90 oil. A JCB service guy stated HP90. From two other JCB owners, I heard that engine oil should be used.

I have used EP 90 when I had one.But I have also seen 15W/40 oil used in these machines with no detrimental effect.Same as with the Fordson majors which use the same unit. I would use EP90.i HAVE EP 90 in my Power major and have done loads of miles with no problems.Looks a tidy machine.Welcome to the site.Keep us updated on the restoration.

Thanks for posting your photo of the JCB 3C MK1, it certainly brought back memories for me of a time when as a kid I used to go to work with my Father More photos please !!

As for your oil, As far as I can remember EP90 is the oil of choice for these machines
