King Post refit - gear / rack issue

Post #1 by Petej247 » Sat Mar 11, 2023 8:52 pm

Hi -

I've stripped and about to start rebuilding my machine with its new kingpost and carrier, seem to have hit a problem.

The gear that interface to the rack will not go back in. I was offering up prior to putting the whole assembly to check fit, and the gear will not slide up into the rack. I'm not 100%, but it appears the rack has rotated pushing the bottom edge out slightly, therefore not allowing the gear to slide into place...is this even possible?

Anyone seen this before an have a fix / workaround?

Thanks in advance

Pete, although I have never done one of these my best guess is that the rack could rotate out of position, there are plenty of people on here who have done these before so I'm sure somebody can point you in the right direction.

Jeremy
