Probably, it did come from the regular supplier often mentioned. Just one of those things.

I've never used one, but I'd be surprised if the seals I've installed would survive bending like this. Anyone used them successfully (and would you recommend them?)

Yes that is the tool. I had not used one before but it worked OK. I did soften the seal with hot water as well.
