3cx sitemaster diesel pump issue

Hi all,

I may have done something silly, in an attempt bleed the system to get it started in fading light the other night i removed the end plate of the injector pump to clear out the filter, there wasn't much crap in there but when i put it back i cant get any diesel to the injectors. I've cleaned the lift pump filter and I get diesel to both bleed screws to the injector pump but nothing to the injectors.
I wonder in my haste if something fell out when i removed it.

I have looked at the parts manual attached and can see item 11, the regulating plug is possibly missing.

from the photos can anyone confirm the parts are in the correct sequence and if indeed the regulating plug would stop the flow of diesel to the injectors.

It appears there are 2 springs adjacent to each other which doesn't seem correct

It would be good to know this is all OK before i start looking elsewhere.

You have the parts in the wrong order and a piece missing.
Small fine spring in first. Then put some grease in the sleeve and insert the regulating piston.The grease will stop the piston falling out as you fit the sleeve. Push the sleeve down in and then the next small spring on top of the piston. Next is the guide plug which is missing from your picture.Looks much like a top hat in shape. It should sit on top of the sleeve.Filter goes in around the sleeve followed by the heavy spring and inlet connection nut.

You'll either have a plug like above(11) or (29) which is adjustable. I'd guess it to be 11. Won't work without it...

Hi,
Pitty you took the end plate off.
You could have drawn the filter out from the top after removing the inlet connection and spring.
There does seem to be something missing in your pic. There should be 8 items including the inlet connection. Perhaps the pic. below will help you sort it.

I realised i didn't need to take it off after it did it, I also didn't think anything fell out but couldn't be 100% sure in the light, so thanks for that,
note to self, don't dismantle anything over grass without a sheet down in fading light!

Status update:

A big thanks to Agrimax and Fowler Man, the advice was spot on as usual, part came today and it was running again within the hour.

This forum is amazing, i try not to ask too much on here, i would rather try and figure it out myself but when I need guidance, help, inspiration or just reassurance that i'm not alone out there, this is the place to come.

Hi,

Just thought I'd give you a a little update on a comment that Gecko made. 'I bought a cheap children's metal detector for just such occasions.'

Last week my neighbour can over complaining that his son had ripped the hinge of the tail gate on his truck in his field and they has spent all day tracing their steps but to no avail!

I said borrow my metal detector after remembering Gekco's comment.
He came back within 10 minutes having found the hinge.
