Hi Essexpete. Thanks for the information.

Working on the matrix heater now. We'll need to get the radiator sent for fixing as the fan damaged the core and we will work on the rest.

Another piece of the puzzle. :D
Hopefully it will work

Quick update today.
We ordered a mechanical temperature sensor yesterday and it was delivered today.
It’s 15mm OD and it fits perfectly and is sealed correctly.

Turned on the machine and 15 minutes later it started to come up to temperature.

It will be great to know how hot it’s getting now. Mounted here now but may change that later on.

This is how far it would go in. Just sized against the other older spare engine.

Next item on the list is the engine cap.

Can these be purchased new or is it a call to a scrapper?

If anyone has one lying around and would like to see it put to use. ;)

The last owner or whoever did this has a lot to answer for. Surely it would have been easier to replace the cap then do this?

It’s a hose clip tied around the cap attaching a piece of aluminum to a hose with a cable tie. :dizzy:

And yes degreaser is ordered and will be used to shine up the engine bay. :D

Maybe the previous owner seen the price they're asking for a new one.

Once again JCB parts come up with a lovely price..........Just £118! How do they come up with these prices? Charnley's are around 1/3 of that and it's still dear for a filler cap......

I think the current owner sees the price too and is saying
“I like the aluminum and cable tie, it looks good.” :D

It’s a crazy price for a new Cap and the JCB price is even crazier. That’s like a large % of the overall cost of the machine. ;)

Keep an eye on ebay. There's a couple of rocker covers, complete with oil caps at the minute for around the same money as just the new cap from Charnleys. A cheap cap will turn up some time.........

Got a set of seals for the machine a few weeks ago and managed to get around to changing it putt today.

Just added in it was seal set 991/00003.

Not as bad a job as We though it would be. :)

Almost off.
Image

Definitely needed the loader to move it.

We didn’t have anything big enough to take the large nut off.
We had to tack weld a nail to it for a grip and used a big bessey clamp to unscrew it. That’s some bush tactics employed there.
Image

Old seals were shot, gone hard and flat.
Image

New set of seals all laid out.

Back in business and no more leaks
