New owner JCB 3D Mk2 qestions

HI I have read with much interest all of the many and varied posts I have brought a 3d mk2 which I would like to know the year of and what engine is in it for servicing purposes. Prior to my purchase it was given a "Dulux rebuild". The old girl needs full re hosing which brings me to my next question where can I source 5/8 bsp field fittings (reusable) in the UK as 5/8 field fittings in Australia are like gold as only Ryco seem to make them DHL air freight to Australia is 74 pounds for a 30x30x30cm x 15kg which makes it very viable to buy them and import them (a 5/8 x5/8 90 bend is 24.20 pound).

The "JCB 1945-1980" book by Michael D.J.Irwin has a section on early JCB serial numbers. It lists the JCB 3D as starting at S/N115823 in 1977, and 127484 in 1978, so this should put yours as an early 1977 model. The book suggests the MkIII came in 1977, but assume your is therefore a late MkII.

I've a JCB 3C MkII, S/N 114300 which is 1976 and is/was fitted with a Leyland 4.98NT engine. I don't know if the 3D used the same engine or not but can't see why it wouldn't. (The Leyland engine become smokey after a while, so I removed it and fitted a John Deere engine which worked well for a number of years until I was coerced to put it back into a John Deere - currently eyeing a nice little mercedes engine which I feel would look well in it!)

I sourced some 5/8" bsp reusable hydraulic fittings on-line a few years ago, but can't remember exactly who from, but have done a bit of searching and see a company called QTP (https://www.qtponline.com) supply them under their code 1795 for a 90-deg. version, but don't seem to offer anything else. The site suggests they ship worldwide, so might be worth a look. (Personally, I got annoyed with these odd sizes, so cut up a 5/8" fitting and a 1/2" fitting, welded them together and converting my flexible pipe work to 1/2". It may be a restriction but just don't tend to over rev the engine when operating the hydraulics and all’s been well to date.)

The dipper looks like it's telescopic? Would be rare or an after fit on a MK2 I'd think?
