Rear axle connection

Post #1 by rethemnianos » Sun Apr 08, 2018 9:27 pm

Hello I own a JCB 3CX (3D) around 1985 and while I was servicing it i noticed a cable connection on the rear axle that something was missing. Can you please inform me what this is in the orange circle? Is it something related to the handbrake? Green arrow is the axle from the transmission and red to the front differential. Thank you

I believe it is the 2/4wd selector. Should have a cable from it to the lever in the cab.
I assume your front axle doesn't drive at the minute?

It does drive but because I just bought it and was not familiar with backhoes I was told by the previous owner it only had 4wd motion. So if I install lever and cable I will be able to select 4/2wd. Thank you

Yes you could do with taking out of 4wd when on the hard and when not need to reduce wear and tear. Have you had it shuttling with all the wheels off the ground?
