Hello,
I have just purchased an old (mid-late 80's I am told) JCB 1550B. Although the hydraulics seem to work OK, except for a leaky stabilizer cylinder, the sight glass for fluid level appears to be dry. Could someone please tell me how the machine rams should be positioned to correctly check the fluid level? Also, would both/either an ISO 32 and ISO 46 hydraulic fluid be acceptable to use in this older machine to top off the fluid?
Thanks for any help

Re: 1987 (?) JCB 1550B 3CX Hydraulic Fluid
Hi Essexpete. Thank you for the information.
From the searching I have done, I think you are correct in the 1550B being similar to the 3CX. I am going to start a new post with some pics in the hope that the community may be able to help identify some of the items I cannot.
Thanks again, Dave

Hi,
In answer to your question, close all the rams you can to check the oil level. I have nixed 32 and 46 oils in the past with no problem.
