Metal debris in a 3CX Syncro Shuttle gear box

Post #1 by coals » Tue Apr 11, 2017 10:15 am

Good morning

I have found several metal debris in the magnetic gear box canister of a JCB 3CX gray cab (1990) during oil drain.

The yellow paint particles are due for the inside gear box coloration (no bronze!), The debris area is only one you can see, the rest of canister is clean.
I do not know when the precedent owner did last oil change and the interval hours.
The machine has about 5-6k hours, no bad sound from converter, very good conditions backhoe!
do I need to worry?

Thank you very much!
Sorry for my bad english...

I might be speaking out of turn and someone with more knowledge shoot me down but I would wash it out, refit, and just keep a weather eye (ear) on the machine. To add I have asked a friend who knows about the JCB ITL transmission and the shuttle shares the same oil as the syncro box which should be an ATF. The debris could be from the gearbox rather than the shuttle. My 2p would be to change the oil again in the not too distant (you won't get it all out) plus the filter as well.
