JCB 3cx orbitrol pump

Post #1 by Gary wright » Wed Feb 15, 2017 9:52 pm

Good evening all.
I have just purchased an old x reg JCB 3cx whilst I renovate an old farm and typically three days after delivery the pump at the bottom of the steering column has started to leak oil into cab.
I have read post in relation to this pump and sorry to raise issue again but does anybody know of a company who will reseal pump for me if I remove from machine?
Also how do you get to the two bolts hiding behind steering coupler?
Thanks in advance.

Gary ,
Vicary Plant will do this for you .
The seal kit is about 50 quid .
Put some postage and labour onto that and you might be as well to ask how much a new one is . I think mine was 200 .
I'm no sure about the bolts you mention , does the orbitrol not just fall away when you unbolt it ?
Best of luck , Gordon .

Thanks Gordon I have removed pump at long last but struggling to find a seal kit. Any ideas where I might get these?
Where did you buy your new unit from?
Thanks again.

Gary ,
I bought my seal kit from Vicary Plant .
I would say that it is almost impossible to renew the seals without the special tools .
I spent a day trying and ended up breaking the seals . A monumental waste of time .
I bought the new Orbitrol from Howford Hydraulics who are local to me http://www.howford-hydraulics.co.uk/
I would be surprised if you don't have anyone more local that can help you .
I'm not sure what Vicary would charge for a new Orbitrol , but it would be worth asking .
Best of luck .
