Front tyres on a 3C2?

Post #1 by SiH » Sun Jan 15, 2017 10:40 pm

Evening all!
Any of you boys fitted larger 16 inch tyres to standard 3c2 rims? Say 10.00's or 11.00's maybe? The 9.00x16 tyres on mine look fit to burst soon, and thought it may be an option insread of getting 18 inch rims/tyres which are hard to get here.
Also, have any of you fitted a simple grab or thumb to the back actor to pick stuff up? I made one for a mini digger years back which was damn useful, but would be interested to see any of you have made for a back actor?
Cheers boys. :)

We even used a 7.50 16 wheel and tyre off a 7.5ton Ford to get out of trouble. On hard ground a truck tyre would be OK but poor as soon as off the hard.

Thanks Pete for that. I have seen that before funnily enough. I need at least 9.00's really, as it does rain a fair bit over here and i could do with tyres that trash the ground less if possible. We'll see what turns up.

Our first 3C with long arms came with 12.50 80 18 with very little rib, a bit like an ag trailer tyre. It held up on the ground well but steered badly on slippery surfaces. When we changed again we fitted 10.5 80 18 with a tread like you would fit on a driven axle. It steered better. The 12.50 would not clear the arms on full lock. Got fewer punctures with the latter tyre as well.

Ive just been offered a set of tractor trailer wheels and tyres, size 12.5x16, for my old trailer, but am thinking they would do for the 3c2. What reckon y'all?

Ah,but will they clear the top of the stub spindles on 16'' rims? It'' ll depend on the offset of the centre of the rims.......
