Your machine looks like its a 1983/84 one, The earlyier machines had Leyland engines which they then replaced ith Perkins units. Just seen the reg plate on the back so that gives the year away. It also looks like it has had the backhoe kingpost replaced or refurbished which is good news for you as it it a famous wear point for the 3CX machines. You do occasionally find doors for these on ebay or you could try the digger doctor or rusty parts to see if they have doors aailable.

No worries pal, this number is the serial number of yours: 299404 on the JCB website you can search for parts using serial number if you need to
vaia : https://parts.jcb.com/parts/index/index/by_model if the serial doesnt work try a similar or simpler one such as 299000 or 300000 for example, as i had to do this.
Hope this helped.

topkit wrote:The fuel guage not working will probably be the sender unit which is not the easiest thing to get to as you need to get the dash up and out of the way, i did my old 3CX in the end i located the sender then used a hole saw and cut an inspection hole which then allwed me to remove the sender and replace it a nd have a working fuel guage again.
I have just done my fuel sender today Gave the mechanism a good clean up with carb cleaner as it was all gunked up and now fully working. I need to return the new sender I've ordered
