Hedge cutter on a 3c2?

Post #1 by SiH » Wed Oct 19, 2016 9:02 pm

Hi folks,
Bit of a long shot, but has anyone on here managed to put a flail hedge cutter head on the back actor and power it,on a 3C2?
Would make it even more useful.

Have you ever driven your 3c with a 3ft bucket on and the boom stretched out the side as you drive? No jacks lowered. It rocks all over the place. It would make no sense to have a flail head hanging out there. Also how are you going to drive and turn round to operate the rear levers at the same time? Have you ever worked a tractor hedge cutter? The rams need moving continuously as you go.
Also it would need a dual pump set up as moving a ram will slow down the flail if there is only the one pump...

I think some of us assumed the op was contemplating a heavy flail head on the end. I suspect you might still need an auxiliary pump even for a reciprocating type.

Yes, but I was looking at a compromise...

Here's a heavy Procut to consider... :dizzy:

Looks the business doesnt it? Maybe a single bladed one -,would be a lot lighter and need less to power it? Full of daft ideas me. :dizzy:

I don't see why this isn't possible , it could be a very handy tool .
There shouldn't be any need for another pump , but it's matching the engine/pump speed to the forward motion .
If you have a nice flat bit of road or field beside the hedge you are laughing ....otherwise it would be a total nightmare .
