2 and a half JCB 3's

Post #1 by Christopher Bremner » Tue Jun 14, 2016 10:59 pm

got our 2 fully working JCB 3's side by side at the weekend.
the rougher looking one has a plate saying 1963 but the other one never had a plate so now not 100% sure when it was made.
also have the remains of another one which was a 1964 with different shaped cab.

Nice pics Chris  good to see you have two working ones; do you have any restoration plans for either of them?

Very nice brings back a lot of childhood memories for me, it looks like the cleaner machine has a 3C bucket on it instead of the smaller 3 bucket, great pictures. Thanks for sharing them

Hello Guys,

I have had the one with the red buckets (no 1) a couple of years now and am slowly but surely trying to make it more original.
The other one (no 3) I have just bought so intend to use it regular as a loader. It has a better front loader and back actor than no 1 so will be swapping them over at some point. Also need to make a proper grill for no 1 so will be able to copy the grill on no 3.
I bought no 2 cheap for some parts, sold the skid unit and sold some parts to Julian Carder for the JCB 3 he recently restored. and will just scrap the chassis, back actor and loader as they are not in the best condition.
I thought it was a 3c bucket and confirmed that when I bought no 3.
Also got a 2bii in my sights when I have the money.
Getting a wee bit addicted to buying old machines :)
