Hello
I used to have a 2B, with detachable hoe and full tractor hydraulics/pto behind.
I had to sell this when circumstances changed.
I am looking for another and have seen a nice 2D for sale. It doesn't have the hydraulics/PTO - could these be retrofitted from a Leyland tractor - or isn't it this simple?
Thanks
Steve

Re: JCB 2D
Well the experts will confirm but I think the 2D had a fixed back acter/hoe. Nothing is impossible but it might be more trouble than worth and it would not be original.

Yep the 2D has a detachable backhoe just like the older 2B, you ould also consider a Massey Ferguson MF40 which also has pto and a detachable backhoe.

I knew I would be soon put right!
The next stage might be to ask on the Leyland/Nuffield forum and see what sort of job/cost might be involved with hydraulics and PTO from a donor machine.

Topkit, Do all MF 40's have pto and 3pt linkage as standard? Did the MF 50 have 3pt linkage and pto?

Re: JCB 2D
I am pretty sure the MF40,s all had pto attatchments, my one had the PTO it dit not have the linkage arms they needed to be fitted but the brackets and the raise and lower lever was already there so you could fit a topper or other pieces of equipment, i have an article that MF did in onstruction news showing an MF40 loader with forklift fitted on the rear. I dont think the MF50 had a pto on it, my brochure certainly has no notes ab
out a pto. Of course the older versions 2203 also had a PTO.
