I have a 1986 ish 3CX which has a 4.236 engine that needs a crankshaft and pistons etc. The number on the block reads LD50222U166719P
I have been offered a 4.236 engine from a Landini 6500. It is also a 4.236 and the block number is LD22573U863989G or J
Can anyone tell me if the parts from the Landini engine will fit the JCB block. Alternatively could I simply put the Landini engine straight in?
You will have gathered by now that I am not an engineer but just trying to get the machine working at least cost.
Will it fit

Re: Will it fit
If The donor engine is a good runner and fits I'd put it staight in. Better check the HP and fuel system so you get the correct revs and output.

I'd say it'll fit in ok.However you may find that the Landini has an adapter plate between the engine back plate and transmission.Should unbolt if it has.The Jcb trans' bolts straight to the engine. You'll also need to change over the crank pulley for the pump drive on the JCB.

Re: Will it fit
Thought I should do an update.................. It did fit ! Finally got around to fitting the new engine this week. It did take us a while to change all the ancillary stuff , flywheel, clutch for torque converter, steering pump, water pump etc etc and all these things take a lot longer when you don't really know what you're doing. We ended up taking the t/c off again before lowering the engine and refitting afterwards but that was quite straightforward. Bolted up and engine started up straight away, hydraulics worked as they should, machine moved backwards and forwards but no steering. The valve at the end of the steering column was seized and that did take a bit of work.
Now for the first time for about 7 years we're back in action again.
I now have a few parts surplus to my needs, 4.266 block, head, flywheel, clutch etc. Any demand?
