Also the second of those two pictures is a 1969 2Bmk2. The first picture is a poor one could be a 3Cmk2 or 3mk2. Jack legs look too long to be a 3 but its hard to see.

Yes William , I have since spoken to JCB and they have found my machine in there records , it left the factory on 7th December 1967 and I have found it was registered in January 1968 ! You know your stuff :thumbup:

I have a JCB 2 not a 2b based on a fordson major trying to find it's original identity as it's missing it's chassis plate it's apparently ex mod and they used to remove all identity

If you think the skid is original, the Fordson castings will all have casting codes. The codes may be weeks older than the skid and then the machine a little younger than the skid.

The easiest one to find might be on the left side close to clutch linkage and gearbox level checking/filling point.

If the head has 'FL' stamped on it it's a '62-'64 super major engine (assuming it hasn't been changed). Also parts were stamped 'Enfo' (English Ford) up to 1963, then changed to 'FoMoCo' (Ford motor company) from '63 on. If the engine number stamped under no1 injector starts with an 'S' it's an industrial engine
