JCB 3CX Injector Problems

Post #1 by kenneth-1@tiscali.co.uk » Sun Sep 06, 2015 9:18 am

Hi. Just wondering if anyone has found an additive that will free up my injector pump. The manual stop sticks internally. It runs for about an hour then the engine starts to lose power. If you pull the stop then restart its ok for a bit. It seems to be worse when hot. Its a 1984 3CX with a Perkins engine and lucas injector pump. I dont fancy taking it to bits if there is an easy fix. Im using forecourt diesel and no additives. Thanks. Kenny

A couple of litres of atf into the fuel tank can work wonders.

Not sure when filters changed but runs great when cold. Will get new filters. Have cleaned filter on injector pump and there seems to be plenty of fuel at pump. You can feel the stop valve is not returning all the time. Will try ATF. Thanks for your advice.
